Space & Defence Supply Chain
Bridging the gap between global standards and orbital extremes with precision-sourced components.
Initiate Technical BriefExecutive Briefing
India's space and defence programmes depend heavily on imported components — over 70% of defence-space requirements are currently sourced from abroad. The domestic supply chain for critical space-grade materials is fragmented, under-documented, and chronically under-resourced. Gaganorbit is building the bridge that changes this — and making money while doing it.
The problem is not that India lacks the engineering talent to make these components. The problem is that nobody has built the institutional infrastructure — the supplier relationships, the qualification documentation, the import logistics, the quality management systems — to make domestic and import-substitution procurement reliable and repeatable for space programmes. That is what Gaganorbit has built.
We source, qualify, and supply space-grade electronic components, mechanical subsystems, adhesives, coatings, integration materials, and associated hardware to ISRO, NSIL, private satellite developers, defence integrators, and research institutions across India. Every item we supply is assessed for quality compliance against ECSS, MIL-SPEC, and ISRO PSQCO (Procurement Standards and Quality Control Office) requirements. We do not sell catalogue items. We sell qualified, documented, traceable components with the paperwork that a space programme actually requires.
For components that India cannot yet manufacture, we manage the end-to-end import process — from supplier identification and technical evaluation through export licensing (EAR, ITAR where applicable), customs HS classification, import duties, duty drawback, and quality inspection on receipt. Our customers do not deal with foreign suppliers, freight forwarders, or customs agents. They deal with Gaganorbit.
In parallel — and this is what separates Gaganorbit from a pure distributor — we are actively developing indigenous substitutes for the most strategically critical imported components. The first of these is GaganPOWER-1, our MPPT-based satellite EPS controller board. The indigenisation roadmap follows the same customer-driven logic as the supply chain business: we learn what the industry needs to import, and we build the Indian alternative.
